Widex Moment

A Hearing aid that doesn’t sound like a hearing aid

Until now, the hearing aid users have been forced to accept that no matter how good hearing aid is, it will always sound like a hearing aid. It is often described as artificial and hearing through the microphone.

Getting used to a hearing aid can be a stressful experience for a first time wearer . Widex Moment has found a way to deliver the most natural and undistorted sound ever offered in a hearing aid. From this “Moment” all other hearing aids will be compared to this one.

Why does a hearing aid sound like a hearing aid?

One of the reason lies in the fact that the sound processed in the hearing aid reaches the ear drum later than the directly transmitted sound that travels through the ear. Hence the sounds arrive out of sync and sound is distorted.

How does Widex Moment work ?

It adapts the ZeroDelay Technology provides an ultrafast signal pathway which to eradicate the problem of delay-based distortion, resulting in clear natural sound. The ultrafast signal pathway reduces the processing delay between microphone and receiver to below 0.5 msec . Then the ZeroDelay engine combines the input from all key components into one pure, seamless sound experience, including the Dual-mic input control which ensures the optimal use of the input from the dual microphone array, the ZeroDelay Accelerator and Amplifier. This part of the process ensures pure and clear sound .

New Receiver Technology

Unlike most receivers, which are made of plastic, the new receivers in the Widex Moment mRIC RD are engineered from stainless steel. This means that they can be manufactured smaller , providing better comfort and durability.

Natural Sound powered by Artificial intelligence

Moment is an artificially intelligent hearing aid that can learn how an individual user wants to hear in the moment and update their sound experience through the SoundSense Learn App.

RECHARGE-ABILITY with discreetness

Although the mRIC model is the market’s smallest rechargeable receiver-in-canal hearing aid, you can rest easy knowing you’ll have all the power you need to hear every moment.

BUILT TO LAST

WIDEX MOMENT™ is designed to reduce the risk of moisture damage with it’s advanced water-resistant nano coating and durable microphones. With no battery door in the rechargeable hearing aid, there are fewer gaps for moisture to sneak into and less corrosion means more durability.

Phonak makes a direct call on smart phones

mfa.jpg

Phonak has closed the loop for smart-phone users with the latest addition to its Audeo hearing aid range - the Audeo B-Direct.

While iPhone users have been able connect their “mfi“ (made for iPhone)” hearing aids to their smart phones, Android phone users haven’t been so lucky - until now.

Phonak says its new Audeo B-Direct is “made for all” (mfa) and provides true hands-free calling for both major types of smart cellphone.

Mfi hearing aids captured the spotlight because they let iPhone users stream phone calls and music directly to their hearing aids without any extra Bluetooth accessories - but those same benefits were not available for Android phone users, despite those phones having a huge share of the mobile market.

Phonak says the Audeo B-Direct has changed this because it can stream phone calls from any Bluetooth phone, meaning Android users can now also experience the benefits of phone-call streaming.

Phonak says Audeo B-Direct users can also answer, reject and end calls by pushing the button on the hearing aid, and the hearing aid also picks up the user’s voice using the device’s onboard microphone. Having this feature will let users pick up a call even when the phone is not nearby.

However, there are limitations: it’s not able to stream music yet and it’s not yet stereo.

Summarising its benefits:

  • Audeo B-Direct is mfa (made for all) – offering universal connectivity, enabling phone-call streaming from any Bluetooth phone
  • It picks up the user’s voice using the hearing device’s onboard microphone
  • Users can reject or end a call using a button on the hearing aid.
